Having her own podcast was a goal of MJ but her challenge was that she didn't know where to begin. "I knew in my mind," says MJ, "that it was something I wanted to do". After creating an outstanding audience on Facebook and Instagram, something was missing. "I felt like, is this IT?, she continues, "I've never done a YouTube video. I don't know if I would make the crossover well."
After running into James Peeples, a close friend and podcaster in his own right, a connection was made between MJ and New Pod City owner, Frank Sasso. "James showed me the New Pod City website", says MJ, "and told me what I needed to do. Within a few days, I was in the New Pod City Podcast studio ready to record.
That showed Frank Sasso how serious she was. "The day I met MJ, I saw on her face how serious she was," says Sasso, "She knew exactly what she wanted her show to be and was determined to make it work. She has only gotten more confident since then and her numbers (in the thousands) reflect that."
At first, MJ wasn't thrilled with the artwork for her new show. It was only when she saw the cartoon character of her close friend James Peeples, that she decided that's what she needed her podcast brand to represent.
The DearSis podcast is a show that not only comforts and encourages people but also challenges them to be the best they can be and it's all delivered with that MJ edge!
